Scholarship Program

In 2024 we began the CMVS scholarship program. The aim of the CMVS scholarships is to encourage participation in and appreciation for the animal health and agricultural sectors. $500 will be awarded to one student each from Meagher and Wheatland Counties. For more information, reach out to your guidance counselor.

Externship program

For many years we have offered externships for vet school students with an interest in practicing mixed or large animal medicine. We urge students to plan an externship in the spring, where they can get experience with calving calls as well as herd work. For more information, please reach out to Dr. Woodford, our Externship Coordinator. [email protected]

Tradeshow

In the summer of 2024, we will host our first trade show in conjunction with our Customer Appreciation Day. This one day event will be held in Harlowton, and will offer incentives and discounts for large animal producers all over the state.

Grant Programs/Opportunities

In 2020, Crazy Mountain Veterinary Service was awarded the Veterinary Services Grant Program Rural with a goal of empowering ranchers to produce healthy profitable beef and offer education for producers and youth in the veterinary shortage area for three years. With this grant we have been able to travel the state with our life size, fiberglass cow called Stella and her calf. We have put on Mobile Learning labs for producers, youth, and organizations interested in calving season tips, IV fluid therapy, scours in young calves, casting broken legs, necropsy, how to tube a calf, and more. We are at the end of the funding for that grant, but still offer our Mobile Learning Lab classes at a cost to groups who are interested. Funding has been provided to such groups via Farm Bureau Grants, local businesses, and other fundraising avenues.

In April 2024, Crazy Mountain Veterinary Service veterinarian Katie Rein and a team of an Extension agent and livestock producers received a grant for research in antibiotic resistance. Check back to find out more information for this exciting project!
